I got mine back in 2013 for my 2012 Heritage. I sent mine back a couple of months ago for a rebuild as it wasn't working nearly as it used to be. The compressor was getting old and tired and there must have been a leak somewhere.

It took about 3 weeks to get everything back and now it's working as it should. Texts and emails were a little slow yes, but in the end, it all worked out.

I'm not sure what the difference is with the upgraded version either.

The shop contacted me and they were very kind to offer all the information,

The new units have better deutch connectors and a new Valve that passes air under compression to improve performance

I am going to stick with the same old unit as in all honesty my bike has over 90K miles and the money will have to go to the engine/starter/belt things that will start needing replacement soon.

I still love the shocks and just so you guys know, I could NOT tolerate my Progressive 422 that I put on the bike until the Shocks get fixed!, this is how good they are!

im not sure why they asked you for $, i was offered the same upgrade FOR FREE but didnt go with it due to the additional hoses and wiring involved, i dont remember exactly, but Sara was sweetheart and very helpful,
she had gone thru the differences with me but i didnt want to tear into the bike that deep to change out wiring and hoses..

they did have some appealing options available but i didnt look into them.. IIRC different switches were an option, maybe thats the additional $ youre thinking of?

the only thing they required was for me to send the entire old system back for a replacement new system, no additional charges

Then you don't have them set up right (the 422`s), a few guys I know mentioned the same issues with service as was mentioned here - After I saw the issues with Air shocks (all makes) on a few charity runs I don't think ill ever get them & for the price.... ouch, to me they are a set it & forget it unless you change out from solo to 2 up often, the compressors are only good for so many cycles, they`re noisy as hell & having to send something back multiple times is not my idea of fun - get a good seat along with a well set up progressive shock (422 RAP) and you`ll be all the better off.

when the air shocks are working - yes....I agree that they are awesome - but for that price they should be, I have a pair of Gabriel high jackers on my Muscle car linked to a compressor & relief valve system (custom lil outfit) & that was no where near what these things cost - hopefully the service gets back to what it once was...!
