Question for those in the know, my shotgun shock from 2012 is back at JD shop as it developed a bad leak, i have the option to pay extra and upgrade the components.
Anyone can enlighten me on the upgrade and the difference it made?
I am already paying around 500 cad$ to take it off and pit back on and just trying to figure out if i should pay extra and what the difference will be
They use to have a lifetime guarantee, what happened? No more?
Why can't to do it yourself?
the guarantee is still there and JD is honouring it. My shocks are the older model and he was kind enough to offer me an option to upgrade at a very good discount. So i am asking anyone who knows the difference between the older and newer models.
Ummm... shouldn't JD be able to tell you the difference?
Of course, I will be asking them over the phone, the forum used to be a source of sharing real-life experience, or at least this is what I thought of it!

Obviously no one has the answer you seek or you'd have gotten it.
When mine failed last year, I got a newer compressor and different tubing. The shock was build a little different as well but not much. All-in-all it was more of the values that changed than anything else. I didn’t get an option, JD took care of me and sent me the upgraded shock. Same fit and function, just new plumbing.
Don't make sense to me, if JD are honoring the lifetime warranty on the shotgun shock just let them repair it and if it fails again they can repair it again for free. Seems like they just want some money off you for components that they know fail over time.
Not good business practice if you ask me they should repair it to last a lifetime otherwise it's just going to cost them more money.
