Is there any specific differences in heights or widths between a fxsts and an flsts front end? The differences I see are in the choice of wheel (large 16” vs skinny 21”). Do both share the same front end at the end of the day?

No, they don't use the same front end...
The 2001 Springer FL front end is:
Rigid fork assembly w/stem #45633-00 and Spring fork #45619-97
The 2001 Springer FX front end is:
Rigid fork assembly w/stem #45569-00 and Spring fork #45607-93
I believe the FL front end is wider to accommodate the wider front tire....

that’s what I presumed. I was seeing those part number differences. Lots of springer’s for sale out there. But nobody ever knows what model they went to. lol

thanks for pointing out that year. I was having trouble finding the year where both models were offered. Makes it easier to tell the differences. More simply, Looks like the fl models have some mounting holes on the left vs fx on the right of the rigid fork.

Yeah, for some reason, the 2001 Heritage Springer has the brake on the left side and the FXST Springer has the brake on the right side....
I have an '01 FXSTS Springer and an '03 FLSTCI Heritage.. Just glancing at the two, it looks like the Heritage front tire might be able to fit between the Springer front end (with some spacer changes) but it would be a tight fit....
There’s a difference of about 4* of rake between the two and brakes on different Sides. The FX has more rake and caliper on the right. Fender mounting bosses are different also. I don’t believe there is any difference in width in he modern style springers. Most of the Fl springers were black.
