Hi all, I'm new here. I bought my first harley in 04, a new nightrain. at first I loved the sleek look and it's dark colors still appeal to me. but after day long trips with my buds, I find after 100 miles or so, my arms and shoulders want to just fall off. My buds who have deluxe, heritage style are fine. I've also had the front tire wash out on me more than once, it's a bit of a puckering experience.
So here are the questions I'd like to see if can get answered.
1) I like the frontend of the heritage/fatboy/deluxe. I'm wondering if underneath the skin of those front ends, is it really a wideglide proportionally? Can the tin be bolted on right over my wide glide?
2) Front Tire. If the above question is no, then has anyone else here made a front wheel change, that they're happy with?
3) Pull back Risors. Has anyone had their arms fall off after 100 miles? If so, did you try pull backs? If yes, what size/type?
There is a forum member(his name escapes me at the moment) or two that have fatboy wheels on their front end, but I am not sure about the forks as well...
My front end isn't Fatboy (though the fenders are!), but I have a fat 16". My fork is a Storz Racing inverted. While I never had any handling problems with the 21", I prefer the 16".
I also put Deuce risers on, with XL1200 bars. Much more comfortable than the stock drag bar.
Here's my NT... I have detailed instructions on the front wheel conversion if you need them.
By the way.. my handlebars are 2003 version from a Dyna WideGlide.
06 Softail Standard with fatboy front end - yes you do need to convert to wideglide fork setup. It's a good looking conversion (IMHO!) and seems really comfortable even with 18" apes!!!
I've just changed the wheels and forks again though - pics to come soon.....
I have an 06 NT and I just bought some 5 1/2 inch pull backs from Drag Specialities, used the same drag bar, and that solved the problem with my arms and back. Now for my ***, I bought the Corbin gunfighter seat, perfect setup IMHO.
wow those FB front ends do look cool. agapsdiver- yes i would like the detailed instructions if you can? thanks. plasmadaddy, when you get those pics I'd sure like to see them... 509 did you have to change your brake line or anything else with those risers? glad to know some one whose arms fell off. LOL...
jbt- didn't mean to leave you out, that bike is absolutely bad ***.
thanks everyone, john
