Sounds like the steering head needs to be tightened.

i would start by checking the neck bearings. sounds like they could be loose.

I would first visually check everything and just feel around for something loose. If nothing is found I would check the steering head bearings.....how many miles do you have on it?

Had (have) the exact same issue. Lived with it until the 1000-mile service and specifically asked the dealer's service intake guy to address it, as I was concerned. When they told me it was done, I checked (roll forward and lock the front brake) to see if the neck bearings had been tightened. Of course they had not. Back into the shop and 1/2 an hour later I'm getting ready to be on my way when I run into the mechanic who had done the 2nd neck repair (I watched him through the shop window while he worked on it). So I thank him. He tells me that Harley doesn't recognize this neck issue as a problem, it's within their tolerance range, but another mechanic has been fixing these problems by (in addition to packing the crap out of it with grease) over-tightening the neck. I think he said it calls for 175 ft. lbs. and he goes to about 200. In his opinion it could damage the bearings. After crapping myself I got on the turnpike and rode home. It's marginally better and I have been wiping packing grease off the underside of the neck ever since. (1900 miles on the bike now).

Nice job right?

Had a similar problem, visually went over the entire front end and found nothing. turned out to be all the crap i carry in the windshield bag. Sometimes i tend to overlook the simple things...what a Jacka$$.

bike has about 20,000 miles and many after market parts, including the forks. Finding out the previous owner didn't knowwhat loctite or a tourqe wrench was. Have had several other loose parts, seems to bewhat ever was replaced is loosing up.
