This is my reasoning for ordering a Pingle petcock to install in my 00 Heritage, just running it past those with vast HD knowledge. My understanding is the stock petcock is vacuum operated to prevent opening until the motor is running. Does that mean the starter has to crank the motor to generate vacuum to open the fuel petcock?
I installed a Pingle on my O3 Sportster years ago but really did it for cosmetics...its a cool chrome job. My starting became very easy and quick with the non-vacuum assist petcock.
Are there negatives to installing the Pingle other than remembering to shut off fuel, which most riders do anyway. I like the fact there are no vacuum hoses or diaphragms required to deliver fuel to the carburetor.....yay I got one that still has a carb.
The motor has to crank longer to create a vacuum to open the petcock.
Install the Pingle and plug the hose, but not at the carb at the VOS.
Or just replace the hose and remove the "T" fitting.
