Whats goin on guys? I am about to purchase 14" apes for my deluxe. I have been searching for information on cable lengths, but comming up with info for 12.5" and 16" only. I am planning on purchasing the 14" apes and 1.5" risers from wild 1.
I am also curious as to what size wire harness extension kit, and type of replacment bushing for bars. I am planning on doing all the work myself, and would like to get all necessary parts together, for shorter down time.
I posted this in another thread, but I think it applies here as well
Are you running the wires inside or outside of the bars? I guess the only things that I can think of are
Solder w/ solder iron
Shrink wrap
wire ties
trans fluid and gasket
this is also a good time to change both the clutch and brake levers since you'll have both off
e-ring retainer ( Jesus clip ) for the clutch lever TRUST ME !!!
grinder ... you MAY have to grind the fitting down a LITTLE to get it to fit inclutch cable down at the tranny
new grips ( I put them on useing gasoline insted of glue )
PATIENCE !!!
I'd wait until you have the bars on to determine the length of all of your cables. It's hard to do otherwise until you actually have the bars up there. If you get them too short, you may notbe able to pull the bars back to a good riding position. Too long and it looks like crap.
BE carefull when ordering cables.. Ive been waiting 3 weeks for a +10 cable for the clutch from drag specialties, its getting old, but atleast I have alot more free time, think Ill go give the dog another bath
