Default Ape Hanger Suggestions for Breakout

Whatsup guys.

I have a 2016 Breakout and I'm ready to put some apes on it. I'm looking for 12" or 14" height and similar to the shape in the photo I attached. Any suggestions for brands? I saw Burleigh Bars in Australia, they make nice stuff but it's in Australia...

Also, I had a friend tell me that 12" will fit without running a clutch cable extension. Anyone able to validate that? Thanks!

When it comes to bars I always recommend wild 1 chubbys. American made and been around forever. Had them on all my bikes and never had any issues and im pretty sure they have a lifetime warranty.

I have had Wild One Chubbys and Carlini Flying Apes on my Softails for over a decade and would recommend both. Great quality and they look awesome. Check the width as well as the height as there are big differences in widths between similar height bars.

OP; Don't measure bar height by inches, measure by comfort-level. Here's how it's done:

1. Sit on bike (upright).
2. Close your eyes.
3. Hold hands out where they're most comfortable.
4. Measure distance fm tree to hand height.

That's your measurement...

Thanks for the input guys. I will definitely be checking out Wild 1's. I may request if they can do a 1-1/2" bar width. Also I'll try that bar measuring as well just to be sure.

Now if I get the 1-1/2" bars, the diameter of the clamping area has to be 1-1/4" to fit the stock breakout risers & top clamp? A few of my friends said that the clamping area should be 1", but I haven't found any clarification on this.

I went with 12in Hell Bent Bars 2in diameter. I did have to do cables.

Apes on a BO can look a bit "stuck out" like old fashioned rabbit ear antennas on a 50's era TV set. I think its because the BO itself is such a long low design. Anyhow, when I installed 14" apes on my BO, I also did a tank lift, (DK Custom). This visually lowers the aspect of the apes giving them a more integrated look.

I’ve had several bars on bike over the years, including Carlini, Torch Industry, another custom set I cannot remember name of co. All nice quality, but expensive. Currently have DNA Monster apes - tough to beat their price for 1.5” diameter bars, plus I like the way the bars flare out. If I ever do another set, it would probably be KST Vanguard series.

These are true 2" adjustable i built using remote front brake master cylinder. So all my cables will be inside the bars.
