Default Spring Seat Installed on CVO

Decided to put a spring seat on the CVO Softail Springer I picked up last fall. Really wasn't to hard, just had to drill 2 holes in front of were the grounds mount on the frame by the tank for the front mount and everything else bolted into place. I used the seat kit off a 2008 CrossBones since they have the same width rear tire and it came out nicely.

I have since ridden it for a few miles and have removed the 1/2" spacer from the back of the seat to lower it down and I am very happy with how it came out. I also relocated the coil at the same time and removed the fake seat post from in front of the oil tank. I also added the nostalgic horn from HD to the front of the Springer as I didn't like the chrome horn they sent with the coil relocation kit. I have also removed the rear footpegs and put chrome allen head bolts and with chrome washers in the holes so I don't have a black plastic plug showing with all the red and chrome...

Here's a pic of the horn mounted to the Springer along with the new LED headlight. The light is not really old school, but we have a lot of deer in MI and I wanted maximum brightness....

Nice looking bike, what about using an LED bulb in the old light housing?

Question what is the difference in ride height (between stock and spring seat)?

The LED bulb is in the factory housing. I just had to use part of the rubber gasket from the old light to keep it from rattling when I put the retainer ring on.

Without the 1/2" spacer, the spring seat raised me up about 2 inches or so. That is with the 3" factory springs on it now. I also have 2" springs and 1 1/2"-2" scissor springs if I want to install them. The factory CVO seat is on the bike in my sig pic if you want to see a comparison. The seat is very comfortable and the 2" or so it raised me up helps to give me a little more leg room. My knees were bent pretty good with the low stock seat.

The raise in seat height is what I want to avoid, and why I have not bought one yet.
I want comfort but not the height.

I looked at the picture of your bike in your garage and it doesn't look like it would raise you much more than the seat you had in the picture. There is a lot of adjustment on the spring seat as well as spring height options and being able to adjust it forward and back. The CVO came with a really low deep seat without much padding and that's probably why it went up so much. Maybe you can find a bike with one close to you and check it out.

There are other spring seats and base plates that would lower you. Mother road customs has some nice ones. I also like the ones they sell at thunderbike. They kept my breakout profile lower.
