Starting Issue.
I have a 2007 FXSTC. 96B engine. When I try to start it it turns over once or twice and then the solenoid starts clicking. The battery is good. The cables appear to be good. Even tried jump starting from my truck and same thing. I thought maybe the starter was dying so I put in a new one and same thing. Tried bypassing the positive cable and connecting directly to the starter lug with jumper cable and same result. (Jumper cables are good, I used them to start my son's car a few days ago.) I pulled the spark plugs out and it turns over great, so it doesn't seem like its a lubrication/engine problem. It feels like it's just not getting enough power to the starter. The manual doesn't list a ground strap, and it's not rubber mounted so theoretically it shouldn't need one. I'm at a loss. Any Ideas?
I suspect that your battery is NOT good. The HD are very sensitive to loads, also when you start the voltage will drop so it may look like you have a good battery but when you ask for power it doesn't have enough.
Also enusre that you hold the clutch in and maybe the stand is up too, these switches can stop the enginer from starting, but then the start motor would still turn.
My bet is battery....

Agree to have the battery load tested , but the op tried to boost it with his truck , but didn't state were he attached the Neg Cable . If he attached the Neg Cable ( to boost ) on the battery and the Pos on starter , I suspect a bad Neg cable or something further down the line .
I could be reading it wrong , still on my first cup of coffee ...

Forget about jumper cables as a troubleshooting tool, they are nothing but a distraction.
This bike has a very simple starter circuit, easy to troubleshoot.

I see your point , and completely understand what your saying , should be easy enough to diagnose . I have read your some of your posts and I have a respect for your knowledge , I've learned a few things from you in the past , always appreciate your knowledge whenever I see it .
Curious to know what exactly is going on . I'll stay tuned in .

As long as the connections were good on your cables , I find it strange that you bike didn't fire up , however that's still not going to to get to the problem at hand . I think the others are correct by saying get your battery load tested , and if good then throw it on a charger , when fully charged , test your voltage from battery to starter , including a voltage drop test by hitting the starter button , I believe it shouldn't drop below 10v .
Have a close look at your cables again , could be a break inside one of the cables , clean connections and tight . Inspect the starter relay as well for corrosion .
When you finally do get it to fire up , test your system for voltage . test battery with power off , ignition on , and idle at 2000 rpm and see what you get .
