Went for a ride the other night and stopped and had a bite to eat with the misses. Went to leave and bike wouldn't start. The fuel pump would come on but sounded strange. Hit starter and nothing.tried it a couple times and same thing but a code came up. I believe it was BUSSrr. Also noticed the security light was on but I don't have security system. Had to leave bike as HOG couldn't find a tow for me.Came back next morning to find a ticket as no overnight parking where I had to leave it. Call dealer(still under warranty) and they said they were booked and couldn't come and get it for 3 days. Rented a trailer and dropped it off. Oh before I put on trailer I tried starting it and it started right up. Dealer said code meant bad battery. Told them I replaced it this spring and then why would it start right up with no security light. They've had it for 3 days now and haven't even looked at it yet. So far it has cost me $35. for a ticket , $35.for receiver and ball , $50. for trailer ,plus whatever HOG was ,plus extended warranty. One last thing, suppose to leave on vacation in 6 days.
So where ya going on vacation? Sorry couldn't help myself. What kind of battery did you buy? Did you fully charge it before installing it? Did you clean all connections and make everything was tight? At this point you can either go get your bike and fix it yourself or go enjoy your vacation and pick up your fixed bike from the dealer when you get home.

Pretty ambitious trip on a bike that won't start.....
Ok, sorry about that.. couldn't help myself... I hope you get it sorted, sounds like a great trip planned....
From what I have read, the buss error code can be caused by many things.... but a lot seem to center around a disruption in 12V power... Probably why your dealer jumped to the conclusion it was a battery..
It could be anything that would cause a temporary drop/halt of 12V power when trying to start.. that list is long.. Since you recently changed the battery, and it was an intermittent occurrence, it could be something simple like one of the battery terminals worked loose and is now making weak or intermittent contact... but again, too many possibilities to just guess about it on an online forum...
I will be interested to see what the dealer finds... I hope they have good diagnostic skills....
Good luck getting it fixed for your trip..!

I replaced my battery with an Auto Zone model and in a few days had an intermittent power failure/ non starting issue. Dealer said it was the battery but I was skeptical. Finally put in a new HD battery and took the old one back and sure enough, it was bad and I got a refund. No problems since then either.
