Default Thoughts on a high mileage engine

I have an opportunity to pick up an 03 heritage springer efi with 67000 miles for $3000. Still awaiting details on the inspection, but initial pics look like it was well cared for. With the cost of springers, the price is hard to beat. I would like to build out the engine and have plans to heavily customize the bike (pro charger, cholo, etc). Presuming it’s in good running order, would You build out the engine as is or beat up the engine for a while and build out with a new engine later?

Check the cam tensioners, crank run out, if all still solid, run it.. When it's time for more power just buy a new S&S crate motor.

This is just my opinion.

No matter what, enjoy it, if you decide to buy 🙂

71,000+ on a 08 Twin Cam. I ALWAYS kept it serviced with 100% synthetic fluids. Runs as strong today as in 08.
