Default Bike troubles
I have a 98 fatboy with an S&S motor in it. Just rebuilt the carb but now the bike will not stay running longer than a few seconds. If I hold a rag over the intake it will run a bit longer. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum. Was it idling ok or not before you rebuilt carb? Cause it's very easy to put the needle jet backwards or set float height wrong, and other problems. Check HERE for some real good info on carbs.
Might want to introduce yourself in the new member area too...check the stickys in there.

You forgot to tell us what type carburetor you are working on...

with the rag letting it run longer, u screwed something up in the carb. take down and redo..............

Well it should run without one.
Did you change the float needle? Is it adjusted properly? Sounds like it runs out of fuel right away. Or you have the idle set way too low.
