I have a 1998 Fatboy. I went to a shop to have Commander 3 cruiser tires installed. I did not do a good check before leaving because I was trying to avoid rain storms. I noticed when home that a Commander 3 Cruiser (130/90 B16 73H) is installed in the front and a Commander 3 Touring (MT90 B16 74H) is installed on the rear. Before I go back and make a big stink on not giving me what I asked for can these tires be mixed safely? I've never ridden with Michelin tires before and I did notice on the way home that handling is different from the Dunlops that I am used to especially in the corners.
From what I have read not too much of a difference between the cruiser/touring except weight rating, I would suggest a call to your dealer, for an explanation. JMHO, Ride safe.
I wouldn't worry about it. If you wanted to ask your dealer about why the different tires, by all means do so.
Your feeling a difference in handling is to be expected since the tires are very different. When I went from Dunlops to my first set Commander IIs, I was shocked by two things: 1st was the amount of difference between the two, and 2nd, that I was actually able to feel a difference.
I have a set of IIIs on now and am very happy with them.
