Default Problem installing Headlamp Visor

Janice just bought a 2007 Deluxe, and she bought a headlamp visor (p/n 67752-77T)to put on it. I've tried to install it, but I can't get the bottom of the trim ring pushed in all the way. It's like there's not enough room for the visor, and the visor doesn't let the trim ring come down far enough to fully seat. I've pushed down on the top of the trim ring and pushed in on the bottom of the trim ring pretty hard, but it just won't seat.

Does anyone else have a headlamp visor? Any suggestions how to get it to fit?

Thank-you!

I put visor's on all my lights, they were all easy except the headlight, UGH. It took me awhile of playing with it. The way i finally got it on was to pre bend it as close as possible to the arc of the trim ring. Then i used a small piece of thin double sided tape to hold the visor to the trim ring while i centered it and put the screw on. Now whenever i have to take it off which isn't that often it goes back on very easy.

Same here...also I used a small pair of pliers and had to bend out the lip of the visor just a bit. The trim ring around the headlamp is angled so it is hard to fit the visor to it.

I was disgusted that HD puts chrome tape on the rubber mount on those things. If they'd just pull a bike off the factory and try to install one they would see what a pain in the *ss it is. Same goes for their billet mirrors - your right mirror is virtually useless.

Default Problem with HD Visors

I am a newbie to both motorcycling and upgrading them..I just bought a 05 Heritage Softail Classic and have been upgrading some of the parts without a hitch until I bought the HD visors for all the lights.
The first problem was the passing lamps were giving me a problem getting them seated all the way. The staff at the store I bought them from informed me that they (the visors 67783-78T) will fit and I didn't need to purchase the rings which is shown in the parts book. I finally got them on and seated in the groove. The headlamp was horrid...no matter what I do it will not seat without a gap...
I called and complained to a closer HD dealer and they said to bring in the bike but it has been in the low 30's the last few days and I am not a dire-hard biker...lol
This dealer told me that I would need the passing light rings to install them and that the headlamp would be okay. Went there I purchased the rings called for the passing lights and found that if I use them there is way too much play and no matter how tight I tighten down the bottom screw, the ring causes the visor to slip and move around...I find the stock rings work better once you get them on...
The headlamp is still driving me crazy. I get the top seated right and the bottom now seems closer together but there is a 1/4" or less gap on both sides of the ring and the lamp housing. I have tried to push on the top and the bottom but the side are still gapping a little. If one side clicks into it's groove the other side pops out.
I love how they look and would hate to have to take the whole full set off the bike and return them over this. I would also hate for water to get in and I noticed some things you guys have done..I need help...in laymans terms..I am new to all this!

I tried a HD headlight ring. Wouldn't fit. Took it to my dealer and they charged me $20 and installed it incorrectly because it was not made right and couldn't be installed right. I will never visit them again. This experience and many similar posts taught me that the HD light rings all suck and either don't fit or leave a huge gap. I got a Cobta II headlight bucket for $100, put my stock lamp in it, and sold my stock bucket on eBay for $100. Looks much better than any ring would have to begin with.

I bought the headlamp and passing lamp visors from JP cycles. Was cheaper than HD. The headlamp one would not fit without the gap on the trim ring. Thought about doing some bending on the trim ring but was also having problems getting the passing lamp visors to fit as well. I know HD says you have to buy different trim rings to make the HD ones fit, JP site said nothing about it but probably need the different rings. Either way I said screw it and planning on boxing their crap up and sending it back.

Well, all but the headlamp fit well..I did get the headlamp visor and ring to fit so as there is only a very small gap at either the 10:00 or 3:00 position....
Not sure if I can post pics since I am new to the forum or how to so I will when I can.
