Now under certain circumstances I'm a firm believer in if it doesn't fit, force it, but I really didn't want to snap a brand new LED headlight......soooooo. I took the headlight assembly apart, again, and under close inspection noticed there was a significant gap (about 1/8 inch) between the light and the retaining ring (diameter of the ring is larger than the light). Hmmmmm, just about enough room for the visor maybe???? So I took my Dremel tool to the retaining ring and cut the spot weld. I then cut about 1/8 inch off one end of the ring and welded it back together. The light just fits into the retaining ring now, and when I put the trim ring back on with the visor, BINGO, the trim ring with visor fits over the retaining ring and no more gap. Just thought I'd share..............

LOL, thanks for reviving this thread for me NO PCKL. Spent the last 45 minutes of daylight today mucking about trying to get my new headlight visor to fit with the trim ring and no gap. The passing lamps went together nicely with the alternate trim rings (they seem tight and solid, though they lack the rubber padding tape that is on the sides of the stock trim rings...) but I currently have about a 1/4" or so gap at the bottom of the headlight trim that narrows to the correct gap at about 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock. The trim ring doesn't seem quite seated correctly on the top, either.

Gonna take a close look through here to find some possible solutions. Don't have spot (or other) welding capability so cutting the lamp retaining ring probably isn't an option for me...

I just put the visor on my wife's 2010 Heritage and found the large gap at the bottom. It also was too loose in my opinion. I really wanted this to fit because it would look so good on the bike. So after thinking about it for a while I got my dremel tool out and started cutting. I took out about 1/2" out of the bottom of the visor ring on both sides of the screw for tightening. I also cut out a square area so the headlight trim ring screw would go through the visor ring. I tightened it to the headlight trim ring and it fits very snug. The wife is happy and I am happy.

Reviving the thread again to see if we can make it some sort of official thread for this bitch.

So I’ve been reading through these posts trying to find a solution for this headache.

One of the issues with the threads is that there are two different types of visors…French and ball-cap. And folks are just calling it visor but while both have issues they seem to be different issues.

I have the ball-cap style visor ( opposite of the ‘big gap’ issue.) I spent way too long trying to figure out this damn thing on the headlight last night. I have the 2014 roadking with the “freight train” nacelle.

There are no YouTubes for this style on an HD.

So I spent some time looking for instructions as a last resort and found Harley didn’t have them on their site like they do with most things, but then I found them only googling…. And of course, I found more than one:
- https://studylib.net/doc/18077825/instructions---harley

Neither of these help. Neither mention the rubber gasket that’s under the clips. (Not in instructions and not in the photo) Neither mention the pain it is to try and line up the damn screw hole which is angled wrong and has proven to be such a pita. Oh and mine does have the photos rubber pad on the visor that is in the manual either.

Has anyone gotten and tricks or advice in 2022 for installing the ball-cap style on a road king?
