Default Visor style trim ring for headlight

I am about to put on the visor style trim ring on my 2010 RKC.I have read so many times on here about how it doesn't fit well and a gap in the "splice".My question is,is there a trick to getting it to fit properly or is it just bad craftsmanship.

Bad craftsmanship mostly. Using a quik-grip clamp helped me immensely and also buying a better quality screw and nut from your local Ace or True Value should get it very close to seamless.

One key to putting it on is to make sure you loosen the stock light bezel first. This will make putting on the visor much easier.

If you do not have a clamp, having a second person hold the bezel sides in while tightening the little clamp screw makes for a tighter fit.

Put mine on this past weekend and went smooth and seamless, as Uncle P stated loosen the original and make sure the back flange of the trim ring goes behind the original ring, may have have to spin the trim ring around a bit before tightening to ensure the original is back in place. Tighten the original through the gap in the trim ring and then the trim ring it self.

I just put one on as well and just took off the stock one. Took 10 minutes and looks great.

I put the entire set of rings on my steed. Yes there is a gap on the front headlight but nothing too anoying. The overall look to me surpasses the small blem of the front ring. Just do what Unclepaul advised and all should be fine. Good luck...

The fix is super easy.

First, toss the HD instructions in the **** can.
Second, remove old trim ring and toss it also in the **** can...just do it.

Third, bend headlight mounting bucket flange outward in several places with pliers or visegrips so new trim ring has a place to grip.

Forth and final, install new visor ring over headlight bucket in place of original ring and tighten screw.

no gap, no rattle, no problem.

Takes all of ten minutes.
