Was riding today.....little hot and humid and my 00FLSTC started bucking and pinging then shutdown. Fortunately I was near a friends place where she is resting.
Does the motor have a cylinder shutdown switch...is it a heat sensor.....what should I do other than let her cool off.
Thanks for the help

I'm assuming it's doing just that. Did you run out of fuel maybe? Check engine light come on?

That's what it had to be.....too hot shutdown. She was fine two hours later. I’m putting a fan in place of the cow bell. I do a lot of parade rides with Shriners and Law Enforcement sonI need to cool that monster down.
Thanks for the reply....ride safe

Doing some reading and I’m finding out that retarded timing can build up excessive heat and also give the ping only when I’m staring in 1st.
My independent is a good mechanic, he’s checking it tomorrow
