Like QC said, road trips, windshield on. Some scoots and their design are just non-windshield.
My Deluxe was either, local was no way, road trip always.
It's the only scoot I've owned over the years I run one. It's a preference thing.
Years behind a WindJammer after years behind nothing - no wind on me, fatigue reduced on long rides; more miles/years behind a little bullet fairing - no wind on my torso, smooth clear air around my helmet/head; and thousands of miles more behind a sport-touring shield with much the same result as the bullet, my FXSTS is super around town and for short-ish rides around the countryside without a windshield. More than an hour or two, I'm wishing for something to cut the wind noise. My tinnitus is NOT getting any better, LOL. (I'm sorry, WHAT?)
I finally ordered a WindVest and am waiting on delivery. I'll post results under a different thread, but if reviews here are true to form, I'm expecting good things.
Yes, I AM getting old. And your hearing does NOT cure itself....
Look wise think some bikes look better with one than without, Roadking being an example. Others like the standard or my Nightrain which has mini apes definitely look better without. As others have said you can get buffeting with a screen on. I was talking to a guy with a one on his bike some years ago and he found another problem with them was as he got on and off the bike he was constantly banging his helmet on the top of the screen
In my opinion windshields are totally utilitarian. No bike looks better with a windshield (except batwings and sharknoses), but sometimes you just need one.
not sure. If I can find one thats works for me i would like one. I have had many Windvests. All were great. No buffeting my head. This one is ok but i have to angle it all the way back. It is at such a steep angle if I had a mishap causing me to be thrown forward, the shield would either decapitate me or cut me like an axe. It is the sharp rear angle that is the issue.
