Default Slamming a Softail?

Does anyone have a way to lower a Softail without spending a fortune? I have the shock extensions on my bike now, but want to go lower, as I want to install a DM customs 200 rear tire kit, and they use a air ride suspension, and that is a $900 upgrade.

i own a 05 deluxe and wanted to lower it. dropped her almost 2 inches but that made things worse. now i had a bike that was lowered but not lowered where where you can really see it and the
ride sucked ***-- bottomed out everytime when 2 up. i went and got the legend air ride put on
and now i have both---the look and the ride. the ride is much smoother then stock, and the drop is huge

If you don't mind my asking, what did it set you back and how hard was it to install? I'm having the same problem with the shock extensions but I love the look with it lowered. Sounds like you have a good solution.

They are pricey, the set up was $1800 and $300 to install. The installation is not hard but you really need to have the right set up for this type of work(a good lift, tools). If you have a cover for the swingarm, it will have to be modified--pain in the ***. I cant tell you how awsome the bike looks when I drop it all the way down--completely different look than stock or the 2" kit. The ride is adjustable-when I'm riding long and winding roads I pump it up higher than stock to feel like Im riding a Cadillac, chop it 3" when in the city to look good. Your bike will look sick with it chopped. Ill get some photos of it lowered asap. Now if I could get those wheels of yours Ill be complete, well almost. How much for those bad boys?

That is a bit pricey but I'm dying to see what it looks like. Did you modify the floorboards at all? Mine scrape enough as it is. I can't imagine how they would scrape with another inch drop.

I was just checking out your gallery and damn, you have made a ton of changes in just a couple of months. Looks good bro!

Oh, my spokes are from American Wire and I paid $1000 for both (had a friend in the biz).
