Hi all...I'm in the process of putting new barson my '06 fatboy...everything is going fine, and when I removed the throttle (and idle) cables, didn't see any problems with installing new cables. Now I'm at the point of hooking the new cables up to the efi, and I'm not sure which cable goes where. Anybody got a link or post a pictureof what it is suppose to look like. I'm using HD diamond cut cables to replace the stock ones.I feel like such an idiot!!
Thanks
I do not right now have any way to post a pic, wife broke the digital camera at her last outing to Disney. I do however have a service manual for my 07 Softail.
It shows a depiction of the IDLE cable going through a bracket with NO collar around the hole or the top hole with a spring on the IDLE cable below the bracket and then going to the throttle cam on the top hole or slot.
The THROTTLE cable is going through the bracketWITH a collar around the hole and to the throttle cam on the back side to the lower hole or slot.
Hope this might help, I thought I would give it a shot.
Idle cable has a spring on it. By moving the throttle on the throttle body by hand, you can see where the throttle cable would have to go to pull the throttle open.
Ok...I got that, thanks! One more question.....In order to take the slack out of the throttle cable (after adjusting the cables w/ the jamnuts) is it suppose to go around the arm on the throttle body with the tittie on it? This is the only way I can figure to get the slack out. I hope I'm explaining right!
Both the throttle and idle cables have a brass ferrule that fits in the slot on the grip. Both cables must fit in the channel that is on the grip. This will allow the cable to move straight out of the switch housing. Loosen both the throttle and idle cables at the adjusting sleeves just below the switch housing, install the cables correctly, button up the switch housing then adjust the cables at the adjusting sleeves.
