Default FLSTC Questions

Hello everyone, I finially closed the deal on my 07 FLSTC Olive Pearl and Vivid Black; Traded my 2007 Ultra Classic in for it. First impressions are that this is going to be a beautiful relationship. This is a fun bike to ride, it handles just as good as the Ultra, comfort and rider postion are good too. Only got to put 15 miles on yesterday riding home from the dealer, had to get started on adding the accessories. Ended up raining all day here in sunny Florida, but the forcast looks good today and I'm heading out as soon as finish my breakfast. So far I've added the matching saddlebags which I like very much; I added a few take off parts from my Ultra: chrome buckshot shift linkage, nostalgic foorboards & brake pedal, nostalgic grips, chome engine covers (near the spark plugs) and visor style trim rings for the turn signals. I have a detachable windshield, round floorboards, andfishtailson order. I also purchased passing lamps, but after opening the box, it was clear that it was going to be a day project in it self to install (looks like a pain in A. I picked out some straight fish tails out of Drag Specialties that should be in on Tuesday; then I'll have the stage 1 and download done. I want to install the classic round horn on the front end. My question is does it just bolt on or are ther modifications that have be made? I also am looking for a way to lay the license plate down. With the tombstone tail light, it appears that the lic. bracket is part of it. Momma wasn't too happy about the passenger ammenities. I'm thinking of going to a leather detachable tour pak for when she wants to ride (which isn't very often, maybe once or twice a month). Me on the other hand, I ride everyday. Last question, if I remove the 3M clear tape under the passenger pillon, does the fender get rub marks when you reinstall the pass. seat w/passengers? Thet clear film looks like sh_t, has all kinds of air bubbles in it.
I will post pictures of everything later this week once I finish my initial mods. By the way, I'm selling a but load of Ultra stuff on ebay: (3) headsets, fairing bra, reach seat, adjustable riders backrest, (2) sets of stock mirrors, suspension hand pump, and a few other misc. items.

Allen,

I saw you questions, and comments in the photoshop thread, however; thought it would be more suitable to answer here.

Glad to see you went for the FLSTSC. Awesome paint set too! I'm sure you will not have any regrets the more miles you put on it. I love the ride, and most importantly the uniqueness (?) of the bike. It never fails...anywhere, anytime all of us stop while out riding, people are all over my bike...wanting to take pictures, and ask questions about it. Think some of my buddies that have a lot more money into theirs get a little jealous.

Sounds like you have gotten quit a few bells and whistles already. Would like to see a pic of it when you get a chance. Keep thinking about getting the bags, and possibly the tour pack too. I just don't get to do as many "long" rides as I would like to justify putting all of that luggage on it.

My lay down license plate is from drag. Bolts right on. I don't know if it will work w/ the tour pack though...something to look into.

As far as that clear adhesive sheet on the rear fender is concerned; I've read on here, and have talked to folks that have removed it...and I would not recommend it, unless you put some type of padding/protection on the under side of your rear seat. Maybe like a couple layers pool table felt attached w/ spray adhesive?? If you take it off, and do not put anything under your seat...IT WILL SCRATCH IT! I had a few bubbles on mine, and all I did was pop the bubble w/ a needle, and work it out.

And lastly, yup, still doing the ABN thing. Sometimes think I'm getting to old for it though-Lol.
If you have any other questions, hit me up, and/or there are a few otherFLSTSC owners here that are all very out going and helpful.

Again, congratulations!

HD has a part number for the plastic under-seat protector. It's made by 3M and sells for under $15.00.

You'll need a blow dryer to warm up the adhesive if you decide to remove it. Don't install your seat without replacing it, unless you don't care about abrasions to your paint.

I left mine on, in case I find a girlfriend....LOL! I installed a Mustang fender bib to cover the protector.
