Just got a Saddlemen seat delivered. It goes back tomorrow. They had QC problems with this one. There are two cheap brass female threaded inserts on the rear of the seat which you must screw the fender bracket to. One had damaged threads and could not be used. Also I noted that the base pan is flimsy (like OEM HD seats) and I was not impressed.
Sad. Spent $650 for this seat. Good that Dennis Kirk will take it back.
I am running a C&C seat now. Love it. I am ordering another C&C with a rider backrest now.
Anybody else have issues with Saddlemen? I guarantee I will never buy another.
I had a saddleman seat it was high quality built. I tried it and I really wanted to keep it, but it didn’t fit me right. The seat pan was stiff with a carpet protective layer.
Had a SDC branded Saddlemen Step Up on my Dyna, got a Saddlemen Tattoo on my NT, both are top notch quality. It's the only seat I want to run on my bikes, so much so that I'm looking to replace the OEM seat on my RKS with a Saddlemen. I suspect you may have gotten a returned seat from Dennis Kirk.
Sorry to hear about your seat woes - have you looked into Lucky Dave's Seats? IMO, similar looks as Saddleman, but much better quality. Might be worth a gander:
There is a good rhing here... The vendor is taking the return with no issue.. i had an issue with a Saddleman a few yers ago on a 2 year old seat and they were great. They make a good product.. its like a few years back, i bought a v & h set of true duals w fishtails. They sent a set where none of the holes were tapped. They then sent a replacement overnight and i was told to keep the orig sent parts. Most mfgs will do the right thing. Stuff happens...
