a bone to pick
I guess my post bothered some, but it was not meant to. I just couldn't understand why a person would pay premium price for a heritage instead of just purchasing a bare bones softail standard and THEN customize. I guess I'm just old school and try and save money. I apologize for any "insult" I may have thrown out there. It wasn't my intention.
I have a Heritage currently and often wonder why the majority of owners do the apes, but it's just a curiousity I could care less what anyone does with their scoot, I totally got where your question was coming from.
I think mainly a lot of dudes lack originality and just do what everyone else is doing rather than have a individual vision of what they want their bike to be....that being said since most folks don't make their own parts, there really is just a set number of configurations a person can do to their bike unless they are making true custom parts.
rock on n ride safe, enjoy the last days of free speech
To satisfy your curiosity about apes, they're more comfortable, easier on my lower back as they keep me from slouching, and they actually make slow speed maneuvering easier. Sort of like power steering.
I still have the stock 10" minis having gone with engine mods first but some 16s are next on my list of things to do.
As for the OP, I stripped my Heritage down to solo mode but like having the option to put the stuff back on should I so desire. That's what the Heritage Classic brings to the table.
No other like it.

That is also what I love about the heritage, classic looks but you can load it up with bags etc or strip it down for a cruiser look.
The quick detach stuff is high as eagle p__y tho, I just ordered the 2 sets of mounting hardware, sissy bar side plates and bag supports to be able to run the two quick detach....yesterday I installed the fender strut hardware and found out the morons at the stealership stripped the hell out of the bolts holding the rear cargo rack, and side plates on the sissy bar...it's always like this....things that should be easy and simple never work and end up being a huge ordeal for me....im just lucky like that lol
I don't bother with the quick detach stuff. I can put everything on/off quick enough without it. The windshield is quick detach from the factory. Bags I leave on except when I wash/wax. It's all the passenger stuff I take off including floorboards and their mounts. Windshield is usually off except for longer hiway rides and even then sometimes I leave it off.
