I installed the toolbox on the right side of my 2017 Heritage Classic--being wary that the information on the Harley website for the item stated, "This item does not fit your 2017 Heritage Classic," just as it does for your Deluxe. F.Y.I., that warning is not all that accurate. It will fit. It'll take a bit of time with a mini-grinder to modify the mounting bracket slightly, but it's not all that difficult and won't be seen once the box is mounted on the bike.

Hi
Thanks for posting this - I was frustrated so searched the reasoning and found the fender rails on the deluxe and heritage were inshanged since 2008 but of course are entirely different to the FXST fender rail which the kit fits.
Can I ask if you were able to get the bracket to fit by cutting a slot in the upper part of the back plate or did you eliminate one hole and part of the plate to make it fit??
Thanks

Bike currently in storage at dealership so can't actually take a look. By recall, there was minor modification to the mounting bracket--minor interference that had to be fixed to bring the bracket up tight against the mounting. I had to redrill the three holes in the toolbox itserlf to move it back about an inch. I used P/N 64937-00A. The last review of that item shows, "I didn't like the way it covered part of my oil tank so I cut the round end of the bracket off, the end closest to the oil tank- drilled new holes and now I have a space between the oil tank and the tool box. Very easy to do and the look is a whole lot better." If you look at the actual review, there's a picture attached. Unlike the picture in the review, I had to mount mine so that it partially covers the oil tank and is mounted so that the back of the tool box is close to the luggage bags. Without bags, it looks like it can be moved back further.
