Hello everyone. I’m looking for alittle help I have an 04 fatboy and I’d like to have passenger floorboards but the problem I’m having is and kits I find say it won’t fit my year and I can’t figure out why. Anyone out there happen to know why this is and or if anyone knows of a kit that would work for me I’d appreciate the help
HD still sells the covers and inserts, I can't imagine the frame changed much from 04 to 05 Softails, I'd be will to bet that the board kit for an 05 Heritage would fit your Fatboy. I have a solo luggage rack on my 05 Heritage that isn't listed for it and HD claims it only fits the Deluxe, well they're wrong, it's on my bike and fits perfectly.
Maybe a local dealer can help you out if they're knowledgeable, a couple around me go by the parts book as if were etched in stone. Like I said, I'm sure you they'll fit. Good luck
here's a pic of a bone stock '04 fatboy. Take a look at where the floorboards would mount. You'll see the problem, the rear pipe is in the way.
So if you have stock pipes, the floorboard kit won't work. If you've changed exhaust, depending on what you put on, it will no longer be an issue
Thanks for explaining this!! I’m in the same predicament and for the life of me couldn’t figure out why HD wouldn’t take my money on these. Seemed odd but now it’s clear.
