Fatboy Question
Hey guys...I have searched the forum and google with no luck. I have an 2001 Fatboy and the previous owner installed the alarm and optional Siren when he bought it new. Well the siren likes to go off. My neighbors hate it. I have replaced the batteries in the Fobs and turned alarm off (never caught it in the act of making the noise w/ Fob in hand) but the Fob can make it seem to go off and on...No chirps though just lights blink. ...the Fob is hanging on clutch handle. I think it is the battery in the siren that needs to be replaced (based on what I have been able to find online). In some ways i would like to take the siren off...but I guess putting a new battery is easier...if I can find it and figure out is there a particular procedure when replacing Siren battery?.
1. Where is the siren located?
2. Is there a particular procedure when replacing battery (don't want to make things worse cause I can start the bike no problem.)
Thanks for any and all help.

Can't seem to make it go off myself...have made it out to the shop as it was stopping. Damn that thing is deafening....probably why my neighbors hate it.

Here is a pic from the service manual of the Security module (has the clear arrow pointing to it) and the siren & connector. I added the top red arrow to point out the siren module, and the lower red arrow to point out the siren plug/connector...

This is located forward of the rear wheel, in the bottom half of the fender, covered by a plastic cover. You may have enough room to just remove the cover and slide it up out of the way, on top of the rear tire, to unplug and remove the siren... If not, you'll need to pull the rear wheel...
I remember when I ordered my 2003 Heritage, the optional security module (TSSM) came with the siren module. The standard bikes had a TSM module and no siren module. My 2012 bagger came with the TSSM module, but the siren module was optional. I only mention this, because I'm not sure if the TSSM in the older bikes is designed to work without the siren module, like the newer bikes, where the smart siren module is an option....
I BELIEVE to replace the siren battery, you need to remove the siren, pry the case open with a small screwdriver (I think there are detents in the case to pop it open), and replace the 9V battery. You then snap the case back together, remount it, and then plug it back in... That's the way to replace the battery in the newer smart sirens and THINK it's the same with the older ones too... but I'm not positive..
Here is a pic of the current replacement siren module for your bike.. I marked the detents where you can pop the case open to change the battery.. I'm assuming the original has the same feature, but don't know for sure...

Good luck with the repair...
