I just got a 2012 FLS(with abs) and I’m looking to put a set of Todd’s cycles 10” mini apes on it. Of course I decide to do this after I had everything off when I changed the handgrips and brake/clutch levers😵💫. I’m wondering if any of the cables need extensions for this setup? If so, what did you guys use for parts specifically? Stock cables seem to have a lot of slack but I’ve been eyeballing that abs cable…🤔
I did that to my 2012 Slim and everything reached except for the brake line. There is a place in Fullerton Ca that made one for me on the spot. It's called TMR. Let us know how things go.
Your bike looks great! Now I know what mine will look like-same color too. I just took everything apart but hit a dead end when I got to the electrical part. The wires connect somewhere under the tank I think and I couldn’t follow them back anymore unless I took the tank off. Does that sound about right?
well my bikes older, but i'm 3/4 done doing my swap to todd's 10 inch
i got the kit from hillside pre wired.. comes with everything
cables, brake line, wires ran through the bars,switches and housings.. and new connectors and for me throttle cables
i did that route cause soldering all them would have been a pain.. and my housings were pretty beat so
bit pricey but saved me from doing it from square one
Would an abs line from a street Bob work? I’m thinking a local Harley shop would have lines for stock bikes on hand so something that comes with longer bars hoping it works…
For the life of me I couldn’t get the wires through the inside of the bar. I made an appointment with a local shop and ran them on the outside for now.
Do yourself the favor, buy the proper length cables, for all applications. NAMZ makes extensions for the electrical part and from Barnett you‘ll get clutch and gas cables to your precise length. The stock cables may look like they fit, but with the higher bars there will be more strain on it and at some point e.g. the nipple on the clutch cable will break where it attaches to the grip.
