Your intuition was correct. Nothing is available yet for the 2008 models. I am in limbo.
There is an active conversation between my custom shop owner and a customer service rep at Vance & Hines. Aparently V&H is waiting on the Motor Company to deliver some specs before V&H will commit to which exhaust kits will fit what. Mainly, V&H is waiting for tuner specs for their FuelPak settings.
Tentatively the info is available on August 15th to V&H and my order is sitting in their queue ready to be filled once all the ducks line up. My local shop guy said the prudent thing to do was to wait for V&H to get things figured out for the 08s so that everything will go as smooth as possible.
I feel like I half jumped off the diving board and now everything is freeze-frame. It lets me rack some more miles, now showing almost 800 miles. I've been getting some good rides in. I'll be getting away from the dino-oil on my first oil change, which may happen at the same time the new pipes go on.
I guess all the folks go through this on the edge of a new model year.
[sm=offtopic.gif]FYI..It is a pain in the butt to change the baffles out. The quiet baffles have a fiberglass wrap on the outside of the baffle that bunches up when you try to remove it. I really had to wrok at it to remove them. Also the heatshields cover up the bolt that holds in the baffles. Since I like to change my baffles, you know when you go to something like Rolling Thunder , so when I removed the heat shields this last time I drilled them so I can get to the bolt that holds in the baffles without removeing the heat shields. Now I just gota figure out an easy way to remove the quiet baffles.
I questioned my shop guy hard about HIS choice of going the FuelPak. When I mentioned that all my (new) forum buddies are using SERTs, and PCIIIs, he could tell that I was a bit stand-off about the FuelPak.
My shop says that the FuelPak is the best match for any V&H setup, and that they have installed dozens and dozens of them without issue or complaint. Once they have it set, I am suppose to forget about it being on the bike. Their BIGGEST concern resulted in how the customers keep tweaking them themselves once they get home and that's when things go sideways. If I leave mine alone after they set it up, and come back with any issues or concerns, they promised that they would make (and stand behind any adjustments) till my heart's content.
Because I am so NOT a wrench, I will take them up on all of this.
I just hope V&H gets the info they're waiting on so I can get my order through.

.
800 miles on a virgin twinkie with no oil change yet???? HOLY SHYT!!!! Mine would be on it's third change by now....you know how much crap comes out of these new motors????? Change out the crankcase at 100/250/500/1000 on these virgins.. makes a huge difference when she has 20000 on her! Damn cheap insurance.
I too purchased a 07 fatboy and installed the same pipes, air cleaner and fuel pack. I was so impressed with the performance of the bike. It ran like a different machine. Much cooler and a lot faster. Also the pipes are so loud I can't hear the ticking of the engine, The engine noise and the roar of the back tire was driving me mad when the bike was stock. The noises are still there but if I can't hear them. You will love the pipes and the performance.
Same stuff on my 07 Deuce and no problems, runs great...and cooler which helps in Az. Also installed quiet baffles...better tone and lower end torque. Mine was easy install...1 end cap bolt and 1 baffle bolt on each pipe. 20 minutes.
Yeah, I went thru the same waiting on V&H to get it straightened out when I got my 07 Deluxe last year. While waiting I put some slip ons on cause I hated the stock sound. Then my wife ruined two pair of boots on the upper pipe. Looks like you have the same design on your Fatboy. So when V&H finally had the 07s figgured out, I bought the BSS from them. Made a huge difference in power, plus it put both pipes below the passenger pegs and saved my wife's boots from further meltdown. Wait for those pipes to be ready and you won't be disappointed.
I am new to this forum but think its great! Alot of nice bikes on here. Love the colors on your anniversary!
I just had my 2005 Fatboy stolen after I spent 2 years upgrading and chroming it out. Sucks but the only nice part was being able to start all over with a 2008 Fatboy. I am trying to get the pipes changed ASAP but keep hearing people say they don't have the specs for the 2008. Isn't it the same as the 2007?
