This winter I am going to go on a search for a used bike. I'd really like a softtail. I have road a friend's Fatboy and I loved it. I love the look of Heritage. I've never rode a Deuce, but I've heard they are comfortable. Right now I ride an old Electra Glide. I'd like some input and advice from my softtail friends. Also if you have any idea on how much I might possibly end up spending. I'm not looking for brand new. Somewhere in the late `90's - early 2000's? Let the advice fly.
I think it boils down to if you like the FX or FL style.
Sounds to me like you are leaning towards the FL. If that is the case then decide if you like the loaded up look of the Heritage or stripped down like the Fatty. Don't forget someplace in the middle either. The Deluxe is awesome too.
Plan to spend around $12,000 (or more) to get something in the 2000-up range...If I had it to do over again I'd like to have a Deluxe...in the "clone-bike" world we live in these days a Deluxe's classic looks are unmistakably HD...Deuces are great lookin' bikes but it's hard to find aftermarket stuff for 'em...Heritage/Fatboys are sweet...hell, how can you go wrong with ANY Softail!!
Japel, if you are interested, I have a '03 Fatboy, Vance and Hines Longshots, F/injuected model, remapped for pipes, 12" fatty bars. Black paint. 5800 miles. Perfect condition. I want $13000 for it if interested, I am in Gerogai. You can call me at 478-923-5168.
