Some of you are not reading that illustrated parts diagram correctly...
The mini hubcap may be shown in the illustration, but if you try to find detail 16 on the parts list, you will see that it is not listed, meaning it is not used on the 2016 Softail Slim S.
Cool. I was just guessing since I posted before he put bike and year in his original.
So you are saying that wasn't some option that a dealer could install?
Maybe there is a interference with the slider design on the 2016 Slim but it sure looks like crap.

Pretty sure that's what Dan89FLSTC was showing in his pics with the slider cap removed... One pic with the step before being pulled in by the torque, and another with the step up against the spacer after torqued. Both before the cap was replaced..
Of course, his pics had some flash glare and a dirtier axle...
