Default Screaming Eagle specs

Hello all,
Just purchased a beautiful 1999 FLSTC and it appears to have Screaming Eagle cylinder heads. Is there any way to determine what “stage” package it is? Other than the VIN I don’t have anymore info on it…

I believe only the Stage IV included the SE heads.

That's the crap shoot of buying a used bike....... you'll never really know what maintenance, repairs and/or mods it has had....

I assume the person you bought it from, is claiming ignorance of what's been done to the bike.... In that case, you'll only know for sure if you can track down the person with that info.. It's possible that with the VIN, you could track down the original selling dealer, hope they did the work, have good records, and are willing to tell you what's been done...

Some people do the various HD Factory stages, by the book, like a Stage IV with A/C, exhaust, cams, big bore kit, heads, and hopefully a tune (carb or EFI) .... Some people do just cams & heads.... Some people throw various parts at a bike, hoping to make a good combo....

Only a complete disassembly will yield some of the info you'd like to know, with no guarantee you'd be able to figure out all the details...

If it runs well, I would just ride it and enjoy it......!

If/when you ever take it apart for maintenance, repairs, or mods, you're likely to find out some of the details...

Enjoy the new bike.....

PS- I gotta ask.... what's hanging down to the rear, from behind the air cleaner.... I feel like I should know what that is, but I'm coming up blank...

Yes, that's a Mikuni HSR carb. That is the long idle speed adjuster as "badglitsch" said.
