Yesterday when I was riding my 91 FLSTC I hit the rear shift lever and it felt like it slipped. At first I thought the lever was just loose but it was not and for the next hour until I got home I only had 2 gears. As I made my way home sometimes it felt like I was in 2nd and 3rd and other times it felt like 3rd and 4th. Can anyone tell me what the issue may be ?

Check the entire shift linkage, including the shifter rod lever on the trans itself... If all that is in good working order, time to look into the trans...
You can start by removing the upper trans cover and checking out; shifter lever shaft/shifter plate/shifter pawl, shifter forks, and the shifter cam.. they are all pretty much on top and with the cover off, you could watch them for proper function while shifting the trans... Hopefully you won't need to pull the mainshaft/gears..
Good luck with the repair and please report back what you find....
