Default Identifying starter.

Hello there, I have the click of dread. And I'm not sure what kind of starter this is.
bike is a 99 fxstc with S&S 113ci/ Jim's 6 speed.
It had always been sluggish to turn over since iv owned the bike, I guess it's got quite a bit of motor to spin.
if anyone knows what this starter is or if it's worth rebuilding would be helpful. Or if a recommended starter for my setup.
Thanks.

Sorry if photo is bad, was rushed.

Don't know that starter...

I believe OEM starter is rated at 1.035kw or at least those are the specs for the starter listed in a Service manual I read. I believe it was for my old 2012 bagger; "Free current: 90A(max) @ 11.5V". There are many "performance" chargers claiming that they are 1.4kw, 1.6kw, and up...

I have read of people using an "All *****" 1.6kw performance starter with good reviews, as well as the Harley 1.4kw high performance starter.....

I use my OEM Harley starter, and it spins my 124" S&S engine just fine, but I have easy start cams...

If your engine has always been sluggish to turn over, it may be a sign that something else should be upgraded/checked... Make sure your battery, starter cables, battery cables/grounds, cable connections, etc are in good order.. They can also be upgraded to assist with starting. Like a higher CCA battery, or better battery cables....

Do you know, as your engine is set up (cams/pistons/etc), what it's CCP is...?? If it at or above 190 CCP, your engine would benefit from some easy start cams or compression release valves... it will start faster, and your starter will last longer... I believe an OEM 103" engine is around 190CCP, and Harley put compression release valves on those engines...

If your engine already has compression release valves or easy start cams, you most certainly have some other issue with the electrical side of your starting circuit that has led to your starter going bad...
