Starter problems on my 67 iron head . I just recently bought all brand new parts for my starter on my ironhead. I bought the starter The starter gear the starter shaft the starter drive the jack shaft the solenoid the starter housing the thrust washers and if I forgot to mention anything that has to do with the starter I bought it as well like the rubber boot that the plunger goes in for the solenoid I bought it all and installed it all just how the book shows to do it out it all back together and the jack arm throws out the starter drive and it meets the starter ring on the clutch basket and as soon as it does the starter shaft keeps spinning but the starter drive drops withouts t turning the motor over bit the starter shaft is still turning inside the starter drive can anyone tell me how to fix this please I've tried everything I can think of please help me get my bike started im open for suggestions. I don't know what else to do.
I tried both solenoids and both do the same thing just so I took out the rubber boot that the solenoid sets in and tried it again this time it just clicked so I took my volts meter and checked it as I hit the button and the battery voltage dropped down to like 6.8 for some reason. I replaced the positive and negative cables on my battery and starter to see if that worked but it didn't makes difference. Now I'm at a stand still wondering if I should get a new starter and solenoid. I rebuilt the starter and it spins just fine when it's hooked up to the battery by it self. I'm going to get another solenoid and see if that helps.
