Default Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) servicing

My 2014 Breakout has an idling problem. I’ve cleaned and oiled the air filter a number of times (after which she runs well for a day or two) but the problem then recurs. I’m guessing it could be a faulty IAC and would like to try and service it. I have tried carb cleaner but this doesn’t appear to do the trick. Can anyone help with some advice/instructions on how to do this?

If it idles erratically and stalls or stumbles at stops, yes, it could be the IAC.
Not sure how you are cleaning it but here's how I do it and have had no problems.......
Air cleaner off.
Rag in the Throttle body to absorb the cleaner.
Ignition ON
kill switch OFF
While spraying the cleaner, (I use brake cleaner or electrical contact cleaner) spray UP into the IAC orifice and toggle the kill switch ON and OFF several times.
Use the nozzle straw to move that around in the IAC.
Let it sit for a bit so the cleaner can evaporate.
remove the rag and start the bike.
SHOULD be ok, but might need another round of cleaner if it's real dirty.
I clean mine every oil change.

I’ve tried that with carb cleaner. I did it first with the engine not running to get most of the dirt out, and then started the engine and sprayed the cleaner into the IAC whilst idling ie all the spray was going into or through the IAC as the butterfly was closed.
I haven’t tried the toggling of the kill switch though

Try changing the TPS - Throttle Position Sensor.

Using the Carb Cleaner could be your problem. Try using a Mass Airflow Cleaner instead. Carb Cleaner will leave a residue in the IAC whereas the MAC won't.

and DONT try to clean it while the motor is running.........you need the pintle to move back and forth to clean the whole area, toggling the kill switch does that.......
While you are spraying and toggling you'll see a different spray
When the pintle is closed the spray will blow back into the throttle body.
When it's open there will be more spray going back up into the IAC.....
The main problem is that crap builds up around the pintle seat, letting air in when it's supposed to be closed, that's why it's erratic.
What you're trying to do here is clean that crap off so it seals.
Toggling the kill switch opens and closes that pintle, cleaning the whole area.

Any cleaner just sprayed in there hard will wash black crud up past the seal in the IAC motor. Also take out temperature sensor. When it dries, it will jam up. Only spray a tad on pintal when open and running. With motor off, use a cotton wetted cloth with spray and carefully clean both sides of butterfly and throat were it sits. (That area is 3/4 of your idle).

Bad fuel will cause same problem. Fuel filter Also Also tuner if you have one. Idle is very lean and anything wrong will affect it.

Do easy stuff first.
