New owner of an '05 FXSTS. Looking to buy removable sissy bar. Started on HD site for part numbers in their lookup.
sideplates 53810-00C
sissy bar 52300022
Then went to EB looking for some deals. Found some pictures and measurements of those same part #'s. They show roughly 10" wide between sideplates.
My stock rear fender is only 8", maybe 8 3/4 with the supports. 150mm rear tire. So I'm thinking I don't want 10" wide brakets/bar. Went to some older HD catalogs for part numbers closer to my model year, find them and look them up. Those are mostly ~10" wide too. At least the few where someone puts a tape measure to them. Found one (no part number) but said it fit 8" fenders. Ordering with no part number seems like a bad idea.
Has anyone actually installed something on the '05 FXSTS who can help me out. Thanks in advance
I have an 05 Springer and back in the day, I got my side plates from JP Cycles. I also bought my tall sissy bar from them, might wanna check them out. I just measured my fender and side plates and the measurements are the same as yours. Good luck to ya.

Hey Springer. Thanks for the reply. Was trying to stick with HD parts, but may end up at JP. Crazy how many part descriptions say theyll fit, but measurements dont add up. hoping someone may have a part(s) number they know works

Just a thought for ya. I understand your desire to stay with HD parts but one of the things that I have learned is this. You take two identical parts, put the HD name on one of them and I can almost guarantee that the one marked HD will cost ya more.
No question, but theres a lot of NOS and barely used out there too .even better prices. Of course if I mess up and buy the wrong thing Im SOL. Thanks again
