I bought the Screamin Eagle II slip ons.
Is it necessary to do the remap to install these?
I dont want to hurt the engine by running it too lean. The dealer says I have to remap.
Thanks MikeM
If you don't change the intake in any way shape or form, no you don't NEED to remap the ECM.
However it won't hurt and might even make it run "slightly" better, as well aseliminating any of the popping on decel that often happens when the pipes or mufflers are changed for freer breathing versions. If you plan on any more future engine mods like an aircleaner/filter change then I think that you might want to save the update money and look into a PCIII or SERT instead. Getting one now will allow you to do your own map changes later andsave you from having to pay and deal with the dealer later.
If you talk to the people at Fuelmoto they can set you up with a PCIII already preprogrammed for your bikes setup, and future updates are just a few mouse click's away.
it's funny to me that some dealers try and tell you you HAVE to do a map. the manual itself says you don't have to change anything as long as you don't mess with the aircleaner. I bought a pcIII myself, and I'm happy I did, but you don't have to do it.
