Question Hmmm, what to put here....?

Hey All,
Just picked up a nice used 2016 Slim. Previous owner did a lot of nice mods but left one head-scratcher. He relocated the ignition switch but left the hole in the dash & covered it with tape. So here's what I've got....
The hole is exactly 2 inches wide with a useable depth of about an inch. I was thinking something functional like an Oil temp gage, but was looking for mounting, wiring suggestions.

The world is your oyster. Oil Gauge would prolly fit. Clock? I like your idea though. I'd be tempted to go with something a little harder. You could put an ignition switch back in and just fake the thieves out....

Interesting... I'd like to see a pic of where the Ignition switch is located now.

FWIW, I used a softail switch on my Iron for a 'different' look....

thanks,

T.

Well that's definitely different. Are the wires exposed behind it? I used to get crap about my Dyna from a coworker saying he could steal it in 2 minutes using a nickel to "hotwire" the contacts that were exposed behind the switch. I called BS on it but wasn't willing to let him fail by shorting everything out on my bike.

well I guess it depends on your definition of 'exposed'. If you have a heavy duty
set of wire cutters, yes I guess someone could cut the wires - but then, you can
do that to any Iron year 2013 and older. The '14 up are 'CANbus' switches with
resistance values that the ECM is looking for - so harder to 'hot wire'....

Mine also has the HD factory 'security system', so I also have to have the
'fob' present for ignition to occur...

hth,

T.

I’d put the ignition switch back up there. Looks awful on the coil packs and is much handier up on the dash IMO.
