Default 2016 Fatboy Lo Front Fender Issue

Hi guys I recently had my front fender repainted & when I re-installed it I can hear the tire rubbing on the right hand side of the fender, there are only 2 bolts each side holding it on, I had the bike on a lift & there was no rubbing at all but when I lean into a right hander at low speed going around my town I can hear it rubbing, I'm baffled to what's causing this, there is only about 5 to 10mill clearance each side of the tire, it never did this till I took the fender off, any help would be appreciated

That's a pretty simple fender arrangement... nothing to really mess up when reinstalling... but obviously something has changed between the removal of the fender and the reinstallation of the fender...

Does the clearance and fit look the same as before the fender was removed.....?

Did you just unmount and remount the fender, or was there some front end work done, tire and/or fork removal done at the same time....?

If nothing was touched except the fender, then I would have to suggest the fender itself somehow got tweaked during the removal, repainting, and reinstallation....

Hi, thanks for your reply & input, basically the fender was just removed & repainted, tires haven't been changed or anything else, I'll take it out to my friends shop & see what he says, I regard myself as above average with the spanners, so it annoys me somewhat that I cant see any issue--I'll get to the bottom of this by hook or by crook as they say, once again many thanks

I know how you feel, I become indignant and rather obsessive in my diagnostics, when I have a problem I can't make any sense of....

In the end, I usually find the cause.... whether self-inflicted or otherwise....

And then I am either embarrassed I didn't figure it out right away, or I learn something new I was previously unaware of.....

Please report back what you find.... I am very curious as to what the issue could possibly be...

I'll be sure to let you know ad soon as I rectify this I'm going to measure the clearance both sides with a micrometer & see how I go from there. Many thanks for your help

Hi 'Hattitude', I ended up removing the front wheel & fender in order to see if there were any indents or the lie on the inside of the fork legs that were locating points, but there were none, so I went out to see the guy who resprayed the fender, he maes Featherbed frames with bronze welding__ he had a good look at it & noticed that there was virtually no clearance on the bottom of the left hand side at the rear of the fender, he took it off & very gently pulled it apart at the bottom of the rear part, Ihad been hesitant to try this as I didnt want to crack the paint, but he ddid it so incrementally it was fine, & he could have fixed it as he had the paint etc, it still doesnt explain why it was rubbing in the first place, but at least it doesn't now.. many thanks for your input, I do appreciate it---------Geoff

Just glad it's all sorted, didn't like the fender rubbing when the bike was banked over to the right.I found it puzzling as it didn't do it previously 👍👍👍
