Default Opinions on value from the experts

Looking for some direction/opinion on the value of a 2022 Fatboy. My 20 year old son won a new Fatboy in a local raffle. He already rides an 05 Fatboy but seems to always commandeer my ultra. You see where this is going. So my question is, what would a reasonable person think a new Fatboy that was titled but zero miles be worth in this market? He wants to unload ‘‘em both and buy a limited. Appreciate the responses.

ride safe

Depends on how quickly he wants to unload it... id look at local dealers prices for new ones, maybe price it a bit under what they are asking because technically it is a 'used bike' being titled already. tell him congrats and good luck.

Damn, that's a nice score !!! Agree with the above. I would go see what the best out-the-door price is for the same bike and knock off a couple thousand and I bet you get a buyer fairly quickly. The other thing is - if your boy wants a brand new bike, see, just see, what a dealer or the dealer that provided the bike to you might do trade for the trade-ins.

I always find people value their own bikes too much. Imo a technically used Fatboy with 0 miles might be worth 1-2 g off the base price. But no dealer will give you that unless they’re struggling with inventory or new motorcycle sales. 05 Fatboy with any number of miles and I personally wouldn’t pay more than 5g. But most would try to get 7 or more for it if the mileage made sense.

Used bikes are being listed around me by dealers at their original MSRP and higher. I can’t say what they are actually selling for.

That's going to hurt a little. He's still gotta pay the taxes for the bike, right?

Does the organization holding the raffle already have the new Fatboy in hand.......?

Or do they have a deal with a local dealer, and will direct him to a dealer to get the bike...?

If they don't have the bike in hand, perhaps he can make a deal with the supplying dealer to have them deliver a Limited instead.....? Probably cost some extra cash, but he won't have to pay taxes and DMV fees twice...!

He could then try to recoup the extra cost from the sale of his '05 Fatboy...

I don't know how often this is done, but I had a friend win a car in a raffle from his small home town, that held a town fair...

He was directed to a local dealer that had a base car, in stock, set aside.... They DID offer him chances to upgrade both options and the model, for extra money of course....

The raffle was held at a local HD shop for a charity event. They had a demo that he could have taken home that day….or, he had the option of ordering a new one in his choice of color and options. He chose to order a new one. The 2 tone paint was an extra 800 bucks and abs was another 800… the dealership ate those costs and said the delivery would be 4-6 weeks. Of course they tried to sell him the extended warranty, vip service package and all that.
