Default Crossbones rear wheel question

Hello all, i'm currently trying to fit an 18, 5.5 rear fat spoke rim on my 08 Crossbones, but i'm being told i need a wider swingarm, i'm trying to go with the black king spoke 48 spoke rims but was told the hub for the rim is too wide to fit any Harley swing arm, has anyone done this to their x bones without mods?
I have read on a different post a 18, 5.5 will mount up,
any suggestions? Will it mount up no problem? I believe the standard is 17 x 6.25
Thanks in advance.

The wheel should fit if it is made to fit a Softail. The stock Cross Bones rear wheel is a 17x6, the largest custom wheel you can fit without mods is a 17x6.25. Some online guides will say the rims won't fit and that is mostly because the bearings changed sizes over the years, that is an easy swap as all bearings for the Harley wheels have the same outside dimension, it's only the inner hole for the axle that changes. If it is made to fit a Softail your spacers and pulley and brake rotor should all line up.

If your going outside the box and using any old wheel you just found and want to make it fit than all bets are off and you will more than likely have to go with custom spacers and possible have to shim the rotor and pulley.

You are actually talking about going to a narrower wheel so the swingarm shouldn't be an issue. Be aware that if your trying to run a 200 rear tire on the narrower rim it will work, but the tire is going to be taller and more rounded not flat across as it is on the wider rim width. So you may want to check clearance for the wiring and such under the fender. Good luck on your project...

I know this post is old but did you do this swap? If so do you still have your stock cross bones rear wheel?
