Is the choke supposed to stay out when it's engaged? My bike runs like crap for about 5 minutes, sputtering and backfiring through the carb if I don't keep the choke engaged. My problem is I have to hold it out the whole time otherwise it pops back in. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it probably isn't working right and I should replace it?? Thanks
First it is not really a choke it is an enricher. EVO's like to be warmed up a bit Enricher out Turned slight to lock it let bike warm up turn it and push it in.
Often the tension on the cable is not enough to hold it as the cable wears. If you have to keep it out after bike warms up ,you have other issues..
Thank you, I can work with Enricher. It runs just fine after about 5 minutes so I don't think I have anything else going on. I can twist it either direction but there doesn't seem to be a catch to keep it out. Is this catch on the **** itself or should I look where it runs into the carb? Sorry for dumb Q's I'm a newb to this bike so just trying to figure out it's little quirks and if they are normal. This one is annoying enough I figured I would ask about it. Thanks
You could do as I do, mine won't stay out either, I just pull it out when I start bike and hold on to it. Then as it starts to slide in I just give mine enough throttle to keep it running, then tighten thumb screw down to hold it. Usually takes about 5 minutes and it is all good after that. Turn thumb screw out to release throttle and enjoy the ride!

The enricher **** says choke on most twin cams. If the **** doesn't stay in the pulled out position gently tighten the plastic nut on the bracket......go easy with tightening the nut is fragile.
The enricher is not a choke......simply opens another gas passage
