Also, it could be the tip sensor or bank-angle sensor. You might need to by-pass it.
Here's a post about the same issue on a newer Softail trike conversion with the same issue...

good luck,

The later EVO motors ('96+) had a "Vehicle Attitude Sensor" in the nose cone electronics with the cam sensor. I believe that all changed with the Twin Cam...
I believe the BAS (Bank Angle Sensor) is only on EFI bikes with Twin Cam engines. I've read that is the sensor that will shut off the engine if you get really aggressive when driving a trike or sidecar hack.... But from what I've read, it takes a real aggressive move, literally with the side car in the air "flying the chair", or rear wheel up in the air on a trike, to set it off...
I think you are referring to the need to reconfigure 2006+ security systems between the solo setting to the sidecar setting (requiring the installation of the Bank Angle Sensor switch kit) when adding a side car or converting to a trike.
I don't believe you need to worry about it on either an EFI or carb 2002 bike....
I found this post, and saved it a few years ago, when doing side car research. It was on another forum, posted by former Champion sidecar and Lehman trike shop owner:

I hope this helps....
