We are up in Maggie Valley this week and it’s been cold early mornings and it’s a little difficult to find neutral. Is something out of adjustment or do I need to say fluid to another brand . Just had 10000 Mille service done a couple months ago. Thanks in advance.
Clutch pak done correctly, cable/lever adjustment done correctly? Fluids have been argued repeatedly but my preference has always been Spectro Heavy Duty Platinum 6-speed(full synthetic). The older 5 speeds I ran Spectro.
Adjust the clutch. This is the issue in many cases of not being able to find neutral.
Check oil level is correct and not low in the transmission, or too high in the primary.
For fear of igniting an oil debate may I just say that Redline V-Twin with shockproof has always worked very well in my '09 Fatboy after changing from another brand. Very smooth changes, greatly reduces 1st gear clunk, and finding neutral is never an issue.
Thanks for all the info. No problem after warms up. Headed home We’d AM. Will check it when I get home.
If it's ok after warm up, you're fine. When it's cold, the plates will tend to stick, and cause drag, which makes finding neutral a PITA. That said, I have found that Redline V-Twin Primary fluid is less prone to that phenomenon, so you might want to look into that.
