Default singlefire ignition worthwhile for '98 Fatboy?

This is my first question here - so be gentle guys! I recently got a stock '98 Fatboy with low milage and I'm loving it. I've put some V+H stepped drag pipes on it, a Mikuni HSR42 carby and taken off lotsa stuff. I also replaced the forward controls with some killer stuff from Excel. I'm now wondering if it's worthwhile to try an aftermarket singlefire ignition like a Cranes or something. The Mikuni has certainly given me a LOT more low-end grunt. I'm not so fussed about peak power, I just like to be able to get out of trouble when the light goes green.

Right now I am really liking the extra grunt from the Mikuni and it seems to be tuned pretty good out of the box. I will be getting it onto a Dyno tuner soon to see if I can get any more out of it. But does anyone here have experience with a similar set-up and could recommend an aftermarket ignition system?

Thanks!

..yep...a dynatek Dyna 2000..http://www.dynaonline.com/english/harley_dyna2000.htm
..allows you to fine tune, run single or dual fire, set rev limit. When I put mine on my 98 softail I got a noticeable performance boost . Really simple install.

Hey thanks! I'll check it out. I was pleased with ther difference the Mikuni made, so any more will be a bonus!

Adding the Crane single fire ignition made a noticable difference on the performance of my 98 FXSTC which is also equipped with a Mikuni 42, Big Sucker aircleaner, and Vance & Hines Big Radius exhausts. The Dyna 2000 may be better but I feel that the Crane single fire was money well spent.

Yeah I've been looking at the Crane also. Good to hear that both have had a good result for you guys. I really don't want to get into changing cams and all that. I like the idea of those mini Coils that Dyna do - wonder if you could a pair behind the horn??

Thanks!
