Anyone know if there is a special tool for tightening the fork tube plug or should I just use an open end wrench? I saw in a POST FROM 2008 That the torque specs have been updated for both the plug and cap to 60-70ft lbs. (The service manual states to "tighten the fork top plug securely" and has no torque spec and the fork cap torque was 40-60ft lbs).
Not sure about your 2005 but I have done fork oil changes on a few of my bikes and I know they don't need to be very tight. It looks like the fork cap screws into the fork tube plug? If it does when you torque the cap won't it be torquein the plug as well?

The flat sides of the fork plug are aligned in the triple tree in such a way that allows a screw for the windshield quick connector to bottom out on the flat spot. Then the fork cap is installed once the fork is secured with pinch bolts (which both of mine were broken and one of the fork tubes unscrewed itself from the fork plug) and the screw for the windshield quick connect.
