Default Console

Hi y’all. My new to me 06 night train. Vent line was dry rotted between the top and place tube. Well Hattitude gave me advice on how to get to it. Thanks to you,Worked out beautifully. To my surprise pulling up the console I found more than the vent nipple. Apparently wherever the last owner stored the bike a mouse came to dinner and chewed up a few wires. I was able to repair the gas tank wires but not to promising either the dummy light cluster. Damn critter ate the jackets right up against the plug. Anyone know how to detach the rectangular dummy light cluster from the console. I was trying to pry the two side tabs but it wouldn’t release.

Good question. I looked at it one time and studied the exploded view online. But, it's one of those things that once you see it done, it's likely very simple and straightforward. But you sure don't want to break anything by trying until you figure it out! Subbed while waiting for those with more experience.

The video in the link is working on a 2011 Softail so I am not sure if it the same as your '06 model but it may help. It shows how to remove the rectangular light cluster on the dash.

Totally different on the Dyna than I expected.
This what y'all referring to?
Ones I removed on a couple of softails totally different, they were part of a wiring harness.

That’s very helpful Bone Doc. Although the connection is different it is secured to the console exactly the same way. The image of the unit itself is exactly as It looks in Tampas image. I am glad I didn’t use a hammer last night. Thank you all for your help. Hopefully I will get out of out to the garage today. Snow on the way😡

Ok guys. It’s not so easy to undo the clips on the instrument cluster. Anyhow I wound up using shrink wrap to insulate the chewed wires and it’s working fine now. If I ever need to replace that unit it’s expensive. Found 1 listing on eBay new old stock damn guy wants over 200 bucks. I came across one for my 09 rroad king for like 70 bucks

Glad you got it working.....

FYI, per the online parts finder, that INDICATOR LIGHTS HOUSING ASSEMBLY #68113-99C is still available from the MoCo @ $124.98
