Default Fork oil change

2009 FXCWC Rocker
The manual says forks must be removed to change the oil.
Is this just to access the drain screw?

Some manuals have a procedure for measuring the height of the oil added back to determine the proper amount, but the tube needs to be upright to do that. I think they want you to get all the oil oil out and inspect for wear etc too. But if you want to do a simple oil change, you will have to remove the front calipers and wheel to access the drain plug. And you will need to remove the top cap to refill. Just be sure to not overfill the oil.

You’ll need to remove front axle to access drain plugs. Have an extended Allen bit ready. Had to use the torque of an impact to get mine off. Don’t need to remove forks.

On one of the forks it’s a solid piece so you’ll need something like tool pictured. See if these pics help. I also put a new copper washers on the two bolts.
