Are the original HD Shop manual and electronics manual worth the money?I'm finding original manuals are $200-300/set and the electronic versions are $25-50 PDF files.I do use them on my other bikes, but my 2005 Softail Deluxe needs something.Any ideas?
IMHO.... The $200-$300 per set for Factory Harley Shop manuals are worth the money...
The .pdf file versions are a crap shoot. HD does not allow for digital copies of their manuals to be sold. If you buy one, it is from someone who has violated copyright laws. Since they are basically selling stolen property, you are dealing with a crook and their "products" vary in quality.
Some suck, some are OK, and some are pretty good.... Even if you happen to get a good one, you are supporting a thief... Ask yourself how you would feel about the guy who buys your stolen property for a highly discounted price, rather than paying for a legal item....??
Not trying to preach, but crooks wouldn't steal if it wasn't profitable...
I'd buy a cheap, used copy of the HD printed manual on eBay before supporting a thief...
But look out, some people on eBay are selling used copies of the Service, Electrical Diagnostic, and Parts manuals for more than you can buy them new...
Your Service Manual #99482-05 is still available new from a dealer for about $140.00
Your Electrical Diagnostic Manual #99498-05 is still available new for about $70.00
Your Parts Catalog #99455-05 is still available new for about $75.00
Definitely worth the money. I've tried a few pdfs for my bikes and the pictures are next to worthless and sometimes the text just as much. Don't support stealing and buy a real hard copy manual.
